Honey & Twine Counseling

Terms & Conditions

Last updated July 10, 2026

Legal Agreement

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Honey & Twine Counseling website and related online services.

Honey & Twine Counseling, referred to in these Terms as “Honey & Twine,” “the Practice,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” operates www.honeytwinecounseling.com and related webpages, forms, client portals, educational resources, workshops, groups, and services that link to these Terms.

Honey & Twine Counseling is a California-based mental health practice that provides trauma-informed and survivor-centered therapy, family support, workshops, groups, consultation, and related educational resources. Virtual clinical services are offered to eligible clients located in California at the time of service. Limited in-person services may also be offered in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach.

The public website is provided primarily for informational, educational, administrative, and marketing purposes. Website content does not constitute individualized mental health advice and is not a substitute for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care from a qualified professional.

Submitting an inquiry, requesting a consultation, joining a mailing list, using a scheduling link, or accessing the website does not establish a therapist-client relationship. A clinical relationship begins only after the Practice accepts you as a client and all required intake, consent, financial, and service agreements have been completed.

By accessing or using the website or related services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the website and services.

Important things to know before using this website.

This overview highlights several central provisions. The complete Terms appear in the expandable sections below.

California clinical services

Telehealth clients must generally be physically located in California at the time clinical services are provided.

Website forms, email, voicemail, text messages, and portal messages are not emergency or crisis services.

05 / Platforms

Third-party services

Scheduling, telehealth, billing, and client records may be handled through SimplePractice or other third-party providers.

06 / Availability

Services are not guaranteed

An inquiry or appointment request does not guarantee provider availability, clinical fit, insurance coverage, or acceptance.

Full Terms and Conditions

Select any section below to review the complete terms.

01 Our services and website

In short: The website provides information about Honey & Twine Counseling and helps users inquire about services, access resources, and connect with approved third-party platforms.

Honey & Twine Counseling provides mental health services through licensed clinicians and, where applicable, associate clinicians working under appropriate clinical supervision. Services may include individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, parent support, trauma-focused services, workshops, groups, consultation, and educational programming.

The website may allow users to:

  • Learn about the Practice and its clinicians
  • Review general information about services and pricing
  • Submit an inquiry or appointment request
  • Access educational articles and resources
  • Register interest in groups, workshops, or events
  • Join an email list
  • Access a third-party client portal

The information on the website is not intended for distribution or use in any jurisdiction where doing so would violate applicable law or subject Honey & Twine Counseling to an additional licensing or registration requirement.

Users who access the website from outside California or outside the United States do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

02 No therapist-client relationship through the website

In short: Using the website or contacting the Practice does not, by itself, create a therapist-client relationship.

A therapist-client relationship is established only after:

  • The Practice has reviewed your inquiry or intake
  • A clinician has agreed to provide services
  • Clinical appropriateness and availability are confirmed
  • Required consent and intake documents are completed
  • Financial and scheduling arrangements are accepted
  • Any other required onboarding steps have been completed

The Practice does not owe clinical duties to a website visitor solely because the visitor submits a form, sends an email, leaves a voicemail, follows the Practice on social media, or schedules a consultation.

03 Intellectual property rights

In short: Website text, graphics, branding, photographs, downloads, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Honey & Twine Counseling.

Unless otherwise stated, the website and its content are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. This includes:

  • Website design and layout
  • Logos, brand names, and service marks
  • Written copy and educational content
  • Graphics, illustrations, and photographs
  • Videos, audio, downloads, and digital resources
  • Original workshop and group materials

Subject to these Terms, you may access the website and download or print materials made available for personal, non-commercial use.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, license, modify, distribute, publicly display, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from website content without prior written permission.

Sharing publicly available educational content for non-commercial purposes may be permitted when the content is shared accurately, remains substantially intact, and includes clear attribution to Honey & Twine Counseling.

04 User representations

By using the website or related services, you represent and agree that:

  • Information you submit will be accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge
  • You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms
  • You will not use the website for an unlawful or unauthorized purpose
  • You will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, client portal, or another person’s information
  • You will comply with applicable laws and these Terms
  • You will not misrepresent your identity or authority

The public website is intended primarily for adults. A parent, legal guardian, or otherwise legally authorized person should initiate inquiries concerning services for a minor unless applicable law allows the minor to act independently.

05 Accounts and client portal access

Certain services may require access to a third-party client portal or account. You agree to:

  • Keep login credentials confidential
  • Use only an account that belongs to you
  • Notify the Practice of suspected unauthorized access
  • Maintain accurate contact information
  • Log out after using a shared or public device

You are responsible for activities performed through your account to the extent permitted by law.

Honey & Twine Counseling may suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect privacy, security, the Practice, another user, or the proper operation of the service.

06 Fees, insurance, and payment

In short: Fees, insurance participation, cancellation terms, and payment responsibilities are governed by the applicable service agreement and financial policy.

Pricing displayed on the website is provided for general information and may change. Current fees will be confirmed during the intake or scheduling process.

Depending on the clinician and service, Honey & Twine Counseling may accept certain insurance plans or private payment. Insurance participation may vary by clinician.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate insurance information
  • Confirming your coverage and benefits
  • Understanding deductibles and copayments
  • Paying amounts not covered by insurance
  • Obtaining any required authorization or referral when applicable

Verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment by your insurer. Final coverage decisions are made by the insurance company.

Payment information may be processed through SimplePractice, Stripe, or another secure third-party provider. Honey & Twine Counseling generally does not directly store complete payment-card information.

07 Cancellations, refunds, and missed appointments

Cancellation, rescheduling, missed-appointment, late-arrival, refund, and payment policies may vary by service and will be described in the applicable financial agreement, registration terms, or informed-consent documents.

Therapy appointments canceled without the required notice may result in a late-cancellation or missed-session fee, except when prohibited by law or otherwise waived by the Practice.

Workshops, groups, digital resources, consultations, or other offerings may have separate cancellation and refund terms shown at the time of registration.

Insurance generally does not reimburse missed-session or late-cancellation fees.

08 Prohibited activities

You agree not to use the website or related services to:

  • Violate any law or regulation
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Submit false, deceptive, or fraudulent information
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm another person
  • Gain unauthorized access to an account or system
  • Introduce viruses, malicious code, spyware, or disruptive technology
  • Scrape, crawl, mine, or systematically collect website data without permission
  • Circumvent security, access, or content-protection features
  • Copy, reproduce, or commercially exploit website content without permission
  • Use website information to send spam or unsolicited communications
  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the website
  • Use the website or content to compete with the Practice in an unauthorized manner
09 Forms, feedback, and submissions

You remain responsible for information, comments, files, testimonials, feedback, or other materials you voluntarily submit to Honey & Twine Counseling.

You represent that your submission:

  • Is truthful to the best of your knowledge
  • Does not violate another person’s rights
  • Does not contain unlawful or malicious material
  • Does not include content you lack the right to provide

Feedback or general suggestions concerning the website or services may be used by the Practice to improve its operations without compensation, provided that clinical and confidential information remains subject to applicable privacy and professional obligations.

Do not submit detailed health information through general website forms unless the form is specifically identified as an approved secure method.

10 Third-party websites and platforms

The website may contain links to or embedded services provided by third parties. These may include:

  • SimplePractice
  • Payment processors
  • Insurance resources
  • Email or newsletter platforms
  • Social media platforms
  • Video or telehealth services
  • External educational resources

Third-party platforms operate independently and maintain their own terms, policies, security practices, and availability.

Honey & Twine Counseling does not control every aspect of an external platform and is not responsible for external content, technical failures, privacy practices, purchases, representations, or services provided solely by a third party.

A link does not necessarily imply endorsement. Review the applicable third-party policies before submitting information or completing a transaction.

11 Website and services management

Honey & Twine Counseling may take reasonable actions to manage and protect the website and related services, including:

  • Monitoring for suspected security or legal violations
  • Restricting access to protect users or systems
  • Removing unlawful, harmful, or unauthorized content
  • Correcting technical problems
  • Preventing fraudulent or abusive use
  • Cooperating with lawful investigations and regulatory requirements

We are not obligated to monitor every communication or user activity.

12 Privacy and healthcare confidentiality

Use of the website is also governed by the Honey & Twine Counseling Privacy Policy.

Clinical records may be subject to a separate Notice of Privacy Practices, informed-consent agreement, client-service agreement, or healthcare confidentiality law.

Not every type of website information is protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. General website analytics, newsletter subscriptions, and public browsing activity may not be covered by HIPAA.

Clinical information should be communicated through an approved secure method whenever possible.

13 Suspension and termination

These Terms remain effective while you use the website or related services.

Honey & Twine Counseling may restrict or terminate website or portal access when reasonably necessary because of:

  • A violation of these Terms
  • Suspected fraud or unlawful conduct
  • A privacy or security concern
  • Abusive or threatening behavior
  • Unauthorized access or technical misuse
  • A legal or regulatory requirement

Ending a clinical relationship is governed separately by applicable professional duties, informed-consent documents, continuity-of-care considerations, and California law.

14 Changes, interruptions, and availability

Honey & Twine Counseling may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue website content, features, or services at any time.

The website may occasionally be unavailable because of:

  • Maintenance
  • Technical problems
  • Third-party outages
  • Internet or hosting failures
  • Security events
  • Events outside the Practice’s reasonable control

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available access to the website or third-party platforms.

15 Governing law

These Terms and your use of the website are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where federal law or another applicable law controls.

Clinical services are additionally governed by applicable licensing laws, healthcare laws, professional standards, and agreements between the client and the Practice.

16 Dispute resolution

Before filing a formal legal action concerning the public website or these Terms, the parties agree to make a reasonable, good-faith effort to resolve the concern informally.

A written notice should describe:

  • The nature of the concern
  • The relevant facts
  • The requested resolution
  • Contact information for the person raising the concern

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking emergency injunctive relief, reporting a concern to a licensing board or government agency, or exercising rights that cannot legally be waived.

Complaints about clinical services may also be subject to separate procedures described in informed-consent documents or applicable professional regulations.

17 Corrections and website accuracy

Website content may occasionally contain typographical errors, outdated information, omissions, or inaccuracies concerning services, clinicians, insurance, pricing, availability, or other matters.

Honey & Twine Counseling may correct or update information at any time without prior notice.

Information confirmed directly by the Practice during intake or scheduling controls over conflicting general website information.

18 Disclaimer of warranties

In short: The public website is provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees that every feature will always be accurate, available, or error-free.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The website will always be available
  • Every statement will remain current indefinitely
  • Third-party links or platforms will function properly
  • The website will be free from all security risks
  • Educational content will be appropriate for every person
  • Using a resource will produce a particular result

Nothing in these Terms limits professional duties that cannot legally be waived once a therapist-client relationship has been established.

19 Limitation of liability

This section does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited, including obligations arising under applicable healthcare, licensing, professional-negligence, privacy, or consumer-protection laws.

Clinical claims and rights associated with an established therapist-client relationship may be governed by separate laws and agreements.

20 Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, or expenses resulting from:

  • Your unlawful use of the website
  • Your material violation of these Terms
  • Your infringement of another person’s rights
  • Your intentional misuse of website systems
  • Your submission of unlawful or malicious material

This obligation does not apply to losses caused by Honey & Twine Counseling’s own conduct where liability cannot legally be shifted.

21 User data and electronic records

We may maintain information you submit and technical information concerning your use of the website as described in our Privacy Policy.

Clinical data submitted through approved systems may be retained in accordance with healthcare record-keeping requirements.

While reasonable backup and security practices may be used, no electronic system can guarantee that data will never be lost, corrupted, delayed, intercepted, or unavailable.

Users should maintain copies of non-clinical documents they need for their own records.

22 Electronic communications and signatures

Visiting the website, submitting forms, exchanging emails, communicating through an approved portal, and electronically signing documents constitute electronic communications and transactions.

To the extent permitted by law, you consent to receive:

  • Electronic notices
  • Appointment and administrative communications
  • Policies and disclosures
  • Invoices and payment records
  • Agreements requiring electronic signature

Electronic records and signatures may satisfy legal requirements that a communication or agreement be in writing.

23 No emergency or crisis services

In short: Do not use the website, email, voicemail, text message, or client portal for emergencies.

Honey & Twine Counseling does not continuously monitor:

  • Website forms
  • Email
  • Voicemail
  • Text messages
  • Social media messages
  • Client portal messages

If you are experiencing an immediate emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.

Current clients should follow the crisis and emergency procedures provided in their informed-consent documents.

24 Educational content disclaimer

Articles, social media posts, videos, downloads, quizzes, workshops, general resources, and other public materials are provided for educational and informational purposes.

Public content is not:

  • A diagnosis
  • An individualized treatment recommendation
  • A substitute for therapy
  • Medical or legal advice
  • Emergency or crisis intervention
  • A guarantee of a clinical outcome

Mental health information must be considered in the context of each person’s history, symptoms, needs, risks, and circumstances.

25 Acceptance and provider availability are not guaranteed

Submitting an inquiry, completing a consultation, requesting a specific therapist, or completing intake documents does not guarantee:

  • Acceptance as a client
  • Availability of a specific clinician
  • Appointment availability by a certain date
  • Clinical appropriateness of a requested service
  • Insurance coverage or reimbursement
  • Eligibility for a group or workshop
  • A particular clinical result

The Practice may recommend another provider, level of care, emergency resource, or specialized service when appropriate.

26 Consent to email and other contact

By submitting a contact, consultation, registration, or subscription form, you authorize Honey & Twine Counseling to contact you about the reason for your submission.

Communications may include:

  • Responses to inquiries
  • Scheduling information
  • Provider availability
  • Administrative updates
  • Requested educational resources
  • Workshop or group information
  • Practice announcements

Consent to receive marketing communications is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving clinical services.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in the message. Necessary administrative and treatment-related communications may continue where permitted by law.

27 SMS and text-message terms

Honey & Twine Counseling may use text messaging for administrative or service-related communications when you have provided appropriate consent.

Messages may concern:

  • Appointment reminders
  • Scheduling updates
  • Administrative follow-up
  • Registration information
  • Brief service coordination

Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply.

You may opt out of non-essential SMS communications by replying “STOP” where that option is supported or by contacting the Practice.

Text messaging is not appropriate for emergencies, urgent clinical concerns, detailed health information, or lengthy therapeutic communication.

Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent will not be sold or shared with unaffiliated parties for their independent marketing purposes.

28 Social media disclaimer

Social media content published by Honey & Twine Counseling or its clinicians is intended for general educational, informational, and marketing purposes.

Social media interaction does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Likes, comments, follows, shares, direct messages, and replies are not clinical communication and may not be monitored.

Do not disclose private health information in public comments, reviews, or direct messages.

Current clients should use approved Practice communication methods for treatment-related matters.

A clinician’s social media activity does not mean that the clinician endorses, follows, treats, or has a professional relationship with another account.

29 Good Faith Estimate notice

Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who are uninsured or who choose not to use insurance may have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for scheduled non-emergency healthcare services.

A Good Faith Estimate:

  • Is an estimate and not a final bill
  • Reflects services reasonably expected when the estimate is issued
  • May change if the treatment plan or services change
  • Does not require you to receive the listed services

If a final bill is at least $400 more than the applicable Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use a federal patient-provider dispute-resolution process.

Information about the federal process is available through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

30 California telehealth and licensed services

Honey & Twine Counseling clinicians may provide clinical services only where they are legally authorized to practice.

Unless another arrangement is expressly confirmed, clients receiving telehealth services must be physically located in California at the time of the appointment.

Clients agree to provide accurate information about their physical location at the beginning of a telehealth session when requested.

Travel or relocation may affect a clinician’s ability to provide services. Clients should notify the Practice before receiving telehealth services from another state or country.

31 Workshops, groups, and community offerings

Workshops, support groups, psychoeducational programs, community events, and other offerings may have separate registration, confidentiality, attendance, payment, cancellation, and conduct requirements.

Participation in an educational workshop or community event does not necessarily create a therapist-client relationship.

Group participants may be asked to respect the privacy of other participants. However, Honey & Twine Counseling cannot guarantee that every participant will maintain confidentiality.

The Practice may remove a participant whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, threatening, discriminatory, or materially inconsistent with the purpose of the offering.

32 Miscellaneous provisions

These Terms and incorporated policies constitute the agreement concerning your use of the public website and related non-clinical online services.

Separate clinical agreements, informed-consent documents, financial policies, group agreements, and privacy notices may also apply.

If any provision of these Terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain effective.

Failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.

Honey & Twine Counseling may assign its rights and obligations in connection with a lawful restructuring, sale, merger, or transfer of the Practice.

These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture, employment relationship, or agency relationship between the website user and Honey & Twine Counseling.
