Recurring Trauma-Informed Workshops | In-Person in Long Beach, CA | Led By A Complex Trauma Specialist

The Embody Workshop Series

A somatic yoga journey for survivors reconnecting with their bodies after relational trauma.

When trauma lives in your body, talking isn't always enough

After relational trauma, many of us learn to live from the neck up. We disconnect from our bodies to feel safe. We manage symptoms, but we don't always feel present. We survive, but we don't always feel alive.

The Embody Workshop Series offers a different approach. Through trauma-informed somatic yoga, you'll learn to reconnect with your body—not as a threat, but as a partner in your healing.

This isn't about perfecting poses. It's about practicing Ahimsa (non-violence) toward yourself and rebuilding trust with your own nervous system.

This workshop might be for you if:

Grounding & Connection

Get oriented to the space and the practice. Learn what somatic yoga is, how it helps with trauma, and what to expect. Build trust with the group through gentle community practices.

Awareness

Creating Safety

Practice Ahimsa (non-violence) in mind, emotion, and body. Explore warrior sequences as a physical representation of boundaries.

Softening the Armor

Release chronic tension through yin-inspired poses. Learn to let go safely through longer, gentler stretches.

Embodiment

Reflection & Restoration

Why somatic yoga helps with trauma

Somatic yoga is different from traditional yoga. It's not about flexibility or achieving certain poses. It's about internal awareness, releasing stored tension, and reconnecting with your body's signals.

Calms Your Nervous System Slow, intentional movement paired with deep breathing tells your brain that the danger has passed. This reduces anxiety, hypervigilance, and fatigue.

Releases Physical Tension Trauma often shows up as chronic pain or tightness. Gentle, mindful stretches help your body release what it's been holding.

Rebuilds Mind-Body Connection By turning your attention inward, you strengthen proprioception—your sense of yourself in space. This helps you feel grounded and present.

Processes Stored Trauma Trauma isn't just a memory—it's stored in your body. Somatic movement creates space to release what words can't reach.
